How Much Have you Spent all Together on your Car?

Oh and Hi.

Anyways ive been very interested in picking up a 3000GT recently and of course the first thing that has came to my mind is $$$$. I absolutely love this car, taken a test drive in one and about died in the seat. At the point im at now is the decision between the SL and the VR-4, now im just curious how much have you guys spent on yours? SL and VR-4 owners, of course i would love to have a VR-4 but im not rich.

Any feedback is very appreciated!

If you're going to buy a 3K, get the VR4. (Without a doubt) Unless, of course, you want reliability (The SL) without some fun. (No offense to TT'less people) The VR4 is a bitch to own though. A full gas tank, for me, costs around $35-40. (That's with 94) So far, I haven't had any MAJOR problems. My CEL is currently on which really pisses me off. The car only has 14K miles too, haha.

As far as money being spent, I'm starting to get into the mod scene. I bought a testpipe (only $40) and Pocketlogger. I actually just bought the pocketlogger software today ($175) and palm pilot ($70). I'll be buying more mods as the nicer weather comes out.

Watch out though, the VR4 can give you some problems if not taken care of properly.

Please remember not to rush to buy one of these cars. It took me two years to find the perfect one. Good things come to those who wait. Good luck!

EDIT - I've spent around $26,000 on the car and everything else all together.

If money is an issue, you probably will be better off with the SL. Insurance is significantly lower and there are a lot of things it doesn't have to go wrong. With that said, if you get the VR4, you'll not regret the choice

My 94 ran me 45K - back in 94.
I got the Spyder for 25K a few years ago (needed a new transmission)

Re: How Much Have you Spent all Together on your Car?

Well at the moment im 18, im in the process of saving up quite a few bucks, at this point i would love to have a VR-4 or an SL. Start with an SL is what im thinking, give me a little time to tinker with the car a bit, of course if i see an unbelievable deal im gonna jump on it. Thanks for your input guys.

Too much money altogether...lol. But my VR-4 is awesome and I wouldnt trade it for the world, but premium gas prices and only par gas millege...Mods are expensive compared to an SL or domestic. Its all work and money end of story. But my 95 VR-4 I got for 12k straight up.

my car was totaled when my parents first got it for my 5 years ago. paid 5k for it back then. It was a '93 VR-4 with 40k miles. Have spent way too much money on fixing it up but after just riding in one i realized that it was all worth it. Anymore my money is being spent on mods but i'd say about 15-17k has been spent on everything. Now that I drive it on a daily basis though i know that I would not take many cars over it, and there are certainly no cars that I could afford that I would rather have.

Re: How Much Have you Spent all Together on your Car?

I'm with everyone else, if money is an issue, get an SL, if 300+hp is the issue, get the vr4.
purchase price 22k
taxes/registration/inspection etc 3k
interest on car loan 3k
300miles worth of gas $40+ x 23 tanks = $920
8tires $1600
year of insurance 3k
turbotimer $80
K&N $150
front and rear strut bars $150
new brake pads $110
total = $34,010
not being able to afford college, but having the best damn car in town...priceless!

-15Gs, 3sx aluminum pulley, FMIC, SAFC, walboro pump, EVO 560ccs, and Meth Injection Kit all waiting to go in shortly.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: How Much Have you Spent all Together on your Car?

I bought a '93 red base a year ago and I've had the best time with it! I'm obsessed with it, the ladies LOVE it, and its the best use of my money. I never have to ask "where did my money go?" cuz it's in my car!
