Climate control system

Hey!

I was wondering if my climate control system is malfunctioning in my '85-735i: when I press one of the controls for A/C, or heat, the small green LED lights up under the button, but when I remove my finger from my selection, the green LED goes out as the button returns to its normal position. I am not sure the unit is diverting air to the areas it is supposed to. How does this work? Do you have to depress a button every time you want to see where the control is set at (since the green LED lights up only when depressed )? Or does it remember the selection, and automatically operate from there? Also, do the buttons stay in when depressed as mine do not. Thanks in advance! JM :>)

I used to have an '85 Mazda 626 and it used the light to indicate whether or not the system was working properly or not. When you pressed the button, it stayed in and the light stayed on. When a malfunction was detected, the light would not come on or stay on. I don't remember if the button itself stayed in or not.

If you have an owner's manual there should be info in there about it. Or, ask on the appropriate forum of www.roadfly.com.
