Question Poor Shifting and power loss

I recently had the engine light come on for my 98 Ford Taurus and brought it in to the mechanic. They told me that a computer check found that I need a PFE and EGR solinoid. The error code was P0402 according to the invoice.

What was happening first was that I would lose power while driving on the highways for only a few seconds at a time. I took it to my dad and we removed the EGR sensor and found a bunch of crap around it, cleaned it and everything seemed fine for a couple of days. Now I have a problem were I will shift it into park and it might kick in right away or not. I will also kick out of gear while driving.

Any ideas? Is it the PFE and EGR sensors? How much might this cost? Can I do it myself?

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind ppl, it was low transmission fluid due to a cut line. Runs fine now.
