Question How Do I Loosed/remove Steering Wheel?

Can someone tell me how I remove, or at least loosen the steering wheel on my 2003 530i?

Hi, Scott!
My car is much older than yours, but all I have to do is pry out the roundel in the middle of the steering wheel. Underneath it is a big nut. Get a socket and a breaker bar, and you're in business.

Do not go to prying on the center of the wheel there is an airbag there. There is a tool that goes in behind the wheel to release the airbag through the two small holes there. After the airbag is removed and unplugged you can remove the nut to take off the steering wheel. Why would you want to though? There is nothing serviceable behind there except by experienced technicians.

Wow, Crash. Thanks for wading in. I'd hate for a fellow BMW enthusiast to take a bag in the face 'cause my car's too old to have one!
