2001 4 runner auto transmission

ive noticed that the shift handle moves slightly or flexes when i apply power or when the truck is on bouncy/rough roads. i bought this vehicle used three days ago, and i'm a little concerned. ive also noticed a small hole on the plastic face plate of the shifter in the top right corner. it doesnt look like it was broken, but like some small piece shoud be there. do any of you know what it might have been. Thanks for any input that you post.

The movement of the shifter is normal. -I have no clue about the hole. Never seen one.

That hole might might be for the shift lock. A small plastic piece snaps in there and triggers something to keep it from shifting into gear when your foot isn't on the brake.

My 2001 4Runner does the same exact thing!
You would think they would bolt it down better?

I also have the same problem before with my 4runner. I was bothered by the shaking but eventually I came to live with it and didn't bother. I did not cause me any problem anyway
