Unhappy no spark to the distributor

I just put a 85 chevy 350 in my 85 chevy camaro. I cut all the computer stuff out of the car and trying to just run the normal wires. The back of the distributor has a electronic plug that I "assume" is all computer stuff. I ran a hot wire from the battery for the dis. and still I cant get no spark to the plugs. I have tried the control mod and the coil so far plus a new rotorcap. But still no spark. Can someone tell me what is wrong and what do I need to do to get some spark back into this baby?

Re: no spark to the distributor

If the distributor you put in it is computer controlled then your not going to get spark to the distributor. The coil sends a spark to the dist at a rate determaind by the computer. So your best bet is to go buy an HEI ignition for a non computer controlled engine. You can probably find something at your local junk yard.

believe it or not I already have one of those. Now there should be no reason to use any of the computer bull with this motor right? I usually work on the front wheel drive cars not the rear wheel so its all unusuall to me!
