difference between radiators???

My car's radiator is cracked. I tried some alumaseal to see if it would fix the leak. It did very temporarily but it is leaking as bad as ever again. So yesterday I decided to pull the radiator. I started to call around and check prices and I was blown away at how expensive they are. Pep Boys wanted $360 and Autozone wanted $347!!! I was expecing $100 or $200, not $360!! But I also looked around online and one place sells them for $411 and one for $146!!! Both are AC Delco radiators. Both sold at the same store. (www.buyautoparts.com and I have a 95 Olds Aurora incase anyone wants to check it out at there website.) Does anyone have any idea what the difference between a $400 radiator and a $150 radiator would be??? $150 sounds a lot nicer on my wallet. But it doesn't sound nicer if it destroys my engine.

Re: difference between radiators???

I checked it out.....and I also went through same experience, although I tried many different types of epoxys to repair hairline crack (to no avail). I don't know what the "code nb" means....why don't you call them and ask. Hard to believe you'll get a rad for $146 unless it's used. I got a used one for $125, and it's been fine for two years, although it was a bit of work changing that I wish I had gone new.....

Re: difference between radiators???

check my thread " buying new radiator - how to tell the diferrence". Well some Auroras come with engine oil cooler - if you look on the passenge side you should see two metal lines going out of the plastic tank(radiator) don get them confused with AC condenser lines. If you don't see any you just have Tranny Oil Cooler.

I don't get this huge price difference - I know that OEM at the dealer is ~$500. the one with oil cooler is bit more expensive but not that much.

go to www.radiatorbarn.com and get one there for $213 shipped. I just replaced mine and fit was perfect.
