2004 jetta rpm

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and I have question about my 2004 GLS 2.0L Jetta. I was wondering if one of you could answer it for me. My engine seems to rev higher than normal while going above 60mph. If I'm going 70mph, the tacometer reads 3300 rpm. Is that normal? It seems high. I had a 2001 Nissan Altima before this car and I know that it had overdrive and when I was going 70mph, the tac would read about 2000rpm. Does the Jetta have overdrive? I guess I'm just asking if that seems normal to anyone?

it seems normal to me. I have a 1.8T and when I am going 70 it revs about 3100 so i think you're ok. Also, before I got my jetta i had a 2000 Nissan Frontier and it to would rev around there at 70. neither of these cars have OD... but then again mine is a manual... i don't know really about automats if that's what you have....

ANyway.. the moral i'm trying to get to is that i think it is normal

my 2000 jetta does same thing, yes this is normal, a 6th gear would be nice!

hell yeah a sixth would be nice... you know the crazy gas mileage we'd get if we had a 6th??? shit... that would be a dream come true... *sigh
