Question Wheel size?

ok why does almost every race car/most spo-coms run on 17" wheels? everyone with 18+ always seem to be jsut for show . cause my stock wheels are 14's and when i mentioned upgrading someone was all like youll go slower with those....so why isnt every race car running on like 12's or something

Re: Wheel size?

because they spend all their $ on wheels and tires. And not on performance like they should. Wheels and tires have to do with your racktime, but not to the degree that you would notice when stock, or mildely modified. but to answer your question. 17 are typically lighter, and less expensive, and have a softer ride then 18s. as for why every race car isnt running 12's....i guess stickers just don't produce horsepower...

Re: Wheel size?

There is a certain trade-off of weight vs. size. Ideally, a bigger tire would cover more distance per rotation. Big wheel/tire combos add up to weight though which quickly gets rid of those benefits. Some light 17's (~12-18lbs) are pretty much all you need for weight reduction. Going to a 14'' wheel that weighs 9lbs is only a few lbs less, and certainly looks goofy.

Re: Wheel size?

what color is what?the light ? the wheels? lol i painted them silver..the lights just green it comes on and bl;ows cold and then starts flashing...you cna hear the compresser stop running like it was turned off...if u keep turning it on every 10 secs it will blow cold like reg ac...as for the flashing if u have a haynes repair manual or seen the wires on the button its the black wire with the white stripe that only when the car is started it doesnt run any power but i was getting a power flash on my light screwdriver thing(my circuit tester(hence the flashing led) its on the 5 pin i believe
