Exclamation sick of sucking

ok so aside from the obvious mods to gain hp ,underdrive pulleys, cam gears and the such... what can someone with an RS with say an intake and exhaust work do to seriously upgrade HP besides spending 1000's of dollars on turbos and superchargers?mainly i wanna know cant i just drop a NOS tank in and be done with it? theyre not exactly all that expensive anymore...

Yea, I guess you could put nitrous in it. You probably won't get much respect from other people out there since all you have for power is nitrous. Also, I'm really not sure if the stock 420A engine can handle more than like a 25 shot of n2o. I think if you did a few internal upgrades like rods, pistons, etc, it might be a little safer to run more nitrous in it. Not to mention, you should upgrade your fuel system since you'll be running lots more air.

P.M. EclipseRST and ask him about it. I know you said you don't want to turbo your car, but I'm positive he can offer any information you could possibly want about your N/T eclipse =) Good luck bud.

Well you can always use nitrous, but I don't think they recommend anything over a 50 shot on stock internals.

But it seems the 420a on the RS/GS is restricted by lack of incoming oxygen. So if you bore out the intake manifold, with the throttle boby you should see some good improvement. Then of course if you can bore out the cylinder heads a bit for cheap, you'll see even larger gains. But doing that to the engine may require to upgrade the fuel system some.

ok i was always wondering about all this boring out and "port polishing as well" it seems almost like someone with a dremel tool and some free time can make an engine kick ass....whats the deal with it?

It would take you arediculous number of hours using a dremel tool. Boring is not by hand, it is done by a machine. Porting is done by hand and should be done using a die grinder and the appropriate bits. It takes a lot of careful work and ideally with a flowbench so you can measure the actual gains. Going in there with a bit and taking chunks out of the intake passages of the head does not always yield gains; rather poor planning can make air flow worse.

nitrous is the cheapest mod for the amount of power it gives you... heres what you need and you can run nitrous all day, everyday if you want and it wont hurt your car one bit:

1. S-AFC
2. Injectors 450cc (stock from a GST or GSX)
3. Fuel Pump (stock from a GST or GSX)
4. 75 shot Wet kit (dont use dry unless you wanna replace your piston rings within a year) wet is much safer and more power producing!

there ya have it, that will get you to about the stock or very lightly modded GST stages! somewhere in the low 15's very high 14's if tuned very well and you are a excellent driver!!! for all that you are looking at around $8-900!

Re: sick of sucking

yeah i was just thinking damn how hard could it really be to make up the what 70hp diffrence in the N/t v turbo. underdrive pulleys giving what close to 30-40 hp..thats halfway. and freeing up the intake exhaust..giving what 10-20 hp. whod have thought i need nos. oh well i wanted a turbo anyways...too bad this engine kinda sucks it would be nice to have a BOV sound that you cant get with the 4g63..no offense to beiing a gearhead...but you really gotta love that sound, if you dont your crazy...hehe

Re: sick of sucking

lol actually almost all of them have bad motors... thats why you dont see them, + who would give one away??? I would not sell a awd, I would keep it for my son if possible

the BOV + O2 dump... hrrr I cant live without the sound....

underdrive pulleys give you close 30-40 hp??? that would be the cheapest mod then... so I would say... "NO WAY"
and with freeing up you mean port it? If yrs than ... good luck porting...
