99 Regal Gas Gauge Problem

The gas gauge in my Regal started acting strangely the last few days. One day when starting the car I noticed the gauge move to full. I reset my odometer each fill so I know how many miles I've gone and I knew it shouldn't read full. As I was driving it slowly started moving down but just as suddenly bounced back up to full. This has been ongoing the past week even after filling the tank. It has even activated the "low gas" feature when the gauge went too low (even though the tank was almost full). Any similar problems and any ideas? Thanks.
