Lighted switch of power mirrors.....

My 95 Aurora's power mirror switch only lights up the right and down parts of the lighted switch at night....can anyone check their's and confirm this is correct, or do I have two little bulbs burned out? Thanking those who respond in advance...

All 4 directions should light up at night.
One of the neat things about the Aurora is driving after dark - all those lights on the doors and the steering wheel, even the rearview mirror - very impressive.
Maybe I impress easily - but I love it.

Re: Lighted switch of power mirrors.....

You need to pull out that top part of the dash that has the traction lights and the service engine lights. It just pops off and so will the part that controls the mirrors. I am going to fix mine someday. Mine does the same thing as yours. But I had to take mine off for a different reason in the past and that is why I know that. Be EXTREMELY careful when you pull that off. If you pull too hard, you will do what I did and pull the lights from the trim. And it is next to impossible to get those glued back. Ever since I did that, I glued it but it has never looked perfect and it rattles now. I think I am going to dish out the $250 or so to buy a new trim piece someday. YOU HAVE BEEN FOREWARNED!!!

Re: Lighted switch of power mirrors.....

Some new information that I have. I replaced that part of the dash so it is new. But the new dash piece didn't come with the mirror switch. So when taking it out again, I looked at that closer. There is only two lights that light up all four direction arrows. So if one light goes out, two arrows will stop illuminating. You should be able to get to the switch by taking the bottom of the dash off and reaching up. This way you avoid breaking all of the lights off. But good luck trying to find the light to replace it. I tried two dealers and neither could find the light in their systems. They suggested Napa and they didn't have it either. Anyone know where you can get the light?

I still haven't found the light bulbs yet... but gm-car-parts.com has the switch (which I am sure would come with the light bulbs) for $51. It's a little steep but seeing that you can replace it once and I am sure you should get at least 5 years out of this before the lights burn out again.

Re: Lighted switch of power mirrors.....

I found new side mirror controls off ebay for like $20. I bought them. And now all directions light up. Easily amused.
