!!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

hey guys, I got a question. I was searching through webites that had del sol's in them, and I saw a couple of del sols that showed fire blowing out of the exhaust. I also saw this in Fast n' Furious i think. Does anybody know how to do that? What do you do to blow fire from your Exhaust?
BTW, I have not bought a del sol yet, because there arent any descent ones for sale in my area. I want to get a Vtec del sol too. Should I get an Si if it comes up faster and it is a descent one? how bout an S ? or would the Vtec be a lot better than both of them? I have $5000 now, but i hope to find a stock del sol for about $3500 so that I can can use the $1500 for mods, or a modified sol for around $5000, Do I have a chance with that?
okay thats it for now, thanks.

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

get a cheap S model for like $2300, then use the rest to do a swap.

and the flamethrowers... negative captain... you have to remove your catalytic converter, and it's just a whole lot of trouble for not a whole lot of bang... those are designed for big blocks.

the other advantage of getting an S model way cheap and swapping a DOHC engine into it is that you have S model level insurance. This is a good thing.

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

Okay, well I think it would be real awesome to get fire blowing out your exhaust., and I would really like to know how to do it...

anyways.. if I would get a cheap S and wanted to do a Vtec swap, would the Vtec engine just bolt right into the S engine's place or would I have to modify something so that the Vtec would fit? What else would I have to do before the swap, with the swap, and after the swap so that the car will be in good shape and doesnt start breaking down??? Would I have to change anything besides the actual engine? If I want to do this myself, where can I learn how to do it.. (like where the wires go, and how to take the engine out, put it back in and all the details, so that I wont break the car) Can a normal car shop do this swap and all the stuff for it, and How long would this swap take??? thanks

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

No offense, but I wouldn't try to do it on my own. No, it's not just a basic bolt in. You have to do not only the B series wiring (S model comes with a D series engine), but you also have to do the VTEC wiring. What I would do is find an S model with a body/interior that's in good shape. (ebay is your friend.. as is autotrader). You should be able to find one for less than $3000. If you're really good, you can find a rolling shell for about $1000. A rolling shell is just what it sounds like. It's a car that the engine is pulled from, for whatever reason. Sometimes it's that the engine blew, sometimes it's that someone is just looking to sell the car, and they like their engine because it's built/turboed, so they are selling just the car without the engine. That's ideal. You can find a B16 swap for about $1000 to $1700 depending on the miles on it. Keep in mind that hondas run FOREVER. Don't shy away because an engine has like 120,000 miles on it or anything. A friend of mine recently reinforced and turboed his Integra. The engine rolled over to 200,000 on his first run down the track, and that thing pulls HARD. Use the rest of your money to get a shop to do the swap. There should be a performance shop of some sort within 100 miles of you. If you do find a shell, you have to get it towed, so your best bet is to call the shop and ask if it's ok if you have the car towed from the seller's location directly to the shop. Usually they're ok with that if you are gonna be spending money at their shop. Also ask if it's ok if you hang out while they do the swap and see what information you can pick up. But your first step is finding a car, so get on autotrader and get on ebay and have at it. And I beg you not to do the flamethrower.. it's absolutely pointless.

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

ok, so I get an S model, then a Vtec engine, and bring it to the shop, then will the guys do the rest? or will I have to buy additional stuff to it? Like how do I know what kind of wiring I need? and How much would it cost approximatly for the shop to do this swap???? also how long approximatly?? and how do i find a performance shop, or is it just a regular car shop that you find an a main street??( I dont mean AutoZone, etc)

How much higher of insurance would it be for an S to Si to Vtec if the car would be under my dad's name???

how much faster would the S with a Vtec engine be than a regular Vtec model???

ThaNKS

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

Or.....you could really build your motor and then it would shoot flames out the exhaust itself. Last time i was at the track, a really nice RX7 with a massive turbo and standalone unit accomplished this. The car sounded awesome.

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

were also talking about a twin turbo rotary engine that uses no pistons and so forth !
Flame throwers are stupid and have no point except to make you look nasty fast..and if your gonna look nasty fast you better be nasty fast or your gonna be the laughing stock of the track and street talk ! besides anyone can run a " spark-plug sort of speak " to thier exhaust and pop a flame
And to be honest if you have 5k already try and find a Vtec del sol, its already there hookde up and ready to roll..by the time you buy an S, but the swap, your gonna need a usdm harness and or your factory re-wired and a shop to install your looking in the same ball-park as a OE Vtec sol , unless the insurance is an issue, but its not that big of a diff. choice is up to you, but if there arnt alot of hondas in your area like you stated, there prolly isnt any good speed shops to do a swap for you either.
it all boils down to your wallet and your capabilities

Flamethrower kits are also a nice way to blow up the gas tank.

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

Not if you get one made for an import... it doesn't get the exhaust too much hotter than it would be anyways. I've tossed flames out of my exhaust by holding a lit match behind one of my exhaust pipes while a friend revvs. Kinda cool, but not something I would do on a day to day basis.

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

It's not a hot exhaust charge that is the concern. Flamethrower kits send gasoline to the exhaust pipes and a spark is delivered there to ignite the fuel. The exhaust charge simply blows the flame out of the mufflers. A properly working car should not be able to create flame using a lighter at the muffler. You probably are running too rich and have excess unburnt fuel.

The danger from flamethrower kits is from the spark. The system has potential to ignite pools of oil or gasoline that could have leaked under the car.

Re: !!!!!? Fire shooting from Exhaust ?!!!!!

It's common knowledge that only Deloreans can do that
