Question custom interior question

I have been working on my interior and i was wondering what kind of paint would work best for the inside? i have most of the interior accented in blue with vinal paint but the aint keeps scratching very easy and comming off, i would like to find a good clear coat to put over it to keep it from scratching when people got in and out of my car but i cant find the right paint to use, any sujestions?

Smile Re: custom interior question

I havnt done a custom interior in my grnad am but i did do it in my last car, Cougar, and i used craft paint from ACE Hardware. It didnt rly scratch or anything after i clear coated it. It is in small cans in the only bad thing about it but if you can the plastic first and make it a little ruff the paint will stick better and it will come out smooth after that paint is applied

Re: custom interior question

don't use vinyl use paint for plastic that does not require primer
you can get in in Lowes or Menards (you will see picture of those porch chairs on the can)

Welcome to AF !!

The best for plastic parts is Krylon, and you dont always need primer. Just make sure the surfaces are clean and dont have any stuff like armoral on them or the paint get fisheyes. Here is a link where I discuss some issues and show examples of my GA's I done.

Prepping the parts is 90% of the job. And about any clear coat will work, but the brand match, krylon, works best IMO and Ive tried many brands.
Also allowing 24-36 hrs for paint to fully cure before reinstalling.

Hope that helps & post some pics when you're done.
