I joined in order to offer assistance with car related questions. I have lots of experience with muscle car era vehicles as well as 4.3 vortec cpi engines.

hey whats up im from south GA, i have a 96 vortec 4.3 it has a bad idle do you thank it could be the MAF sensor?

Maybe. Do you have an engine code? Being that it is a 96, it will have an OBD 2 system on it. It should be tripping a trouble code if it is indeed a sensor problem. Here are the basic things to check when diagnosing bad idle problems.
1) Air filter
2) Spark plugs
3) Spark plug wires (should be checked with an ohm meter between 4.5 and 12 ohms.)
4) Fuel filter

These are just the simple things to check if you do not have a code. Otherwise I need more information. What other symtoms do you have?
