more power for 1999 accord 1.8 vtec

how can i increase power of a 1999 accord 1.8 vtec without changing the internals? how much extra hp can the stock engine handle? i prefer a turbo but which one? nothing too expensive? also what is the engine code for this engine?

will either of these turbo's fit?

Re: more power for 1999 accord 1.8 vtec

Oh you live in the UK. Ok maybe they have a 1.8 vtec accord there but we don't here so it might be hard to get info from us. Most of us int he Honda/Acura forum live in the US and we always get scammed by the car manufactors, it seems like everybody gets the cool cars and we get stuck with the normal cars.

Re: more power for 1999 accord 1.8 vtec

Well the 4cyl accord's here have 2.2 liter motors. So not knowing what motor you have it is a little harder to help.

Do this go out and look at one and get the engine code from it and then we will be able to better help you for sure. The engine code is on the front (towards the front of the car) of the motor were the motor and the transmission bolt together.

Re: more power for 1999 accord 1.8 vtec

im probably going to get a turbo from a breakers yard. which turbo will fit? supra, eclipse, impreza???

intake manifold gaskets - $80,
turbo manifold $5
down pipe - $10
intercooler - $180
TO4 or turbo- £300
wastgate - $310, wastegate dump tube
intercooler piping - $130
blow off valve - $30
bypass valve - $40
cold air intake - $50

are the TO3 and TO4 turbo's ok? which do i need? i need one which does not need the internals changing?

how much boost can i safely run without changing the internals?

TO4 turbo' are much common on Ebay.

thanks

new fuel management.. you can't forget fuel management.. you might want to get some new injectors maybe 310cc or something, new fuel pump just to be safe, higher flow fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator.. i'm sure i've forgotten something.. i'd recommend getting all of that just in case you want to upgrade later
