It's not a question of fit. There's a DSM with 2 engines in it. How much money do you want to spend?

Thats the engine out of a 350 Z.....

Anythings possible with the right amount of money.. Thinking reasonably though.. that engine is much to big for an Eclipse.. Wiring would be a pain.. bolting up a tranny to it would be a pain... More reasons not to do it, than to do it..

Re: VQ35DE in 2g engine bay?

Putting the 6G72 3.0L would be hard enough, and that is a Mitsu engine. To put a Nissan R35 Skyline engine in the car would require the car to have a totally customized engine bay, which would be more of a hassle than it would be worth, IMO.

Well, if you go with the slightly less powerful(245-265hp) fwd VQ35s from the Altima, Maxima or Murano, that might make things easier. Getting the fwd transmission makes a big difference.

why would you want to do that? talk about pain in the ass! you would pretty much need to take out anything and everything out of the eclipse engine bay and replace it with everything from the engine bay in the 350Z, you would need the complete drive line from the 350Z and modify it to work with the eclipse, all the wires, all the gauges (MPH, RPMs), ECU and tranny computer... waste of time and money where you could spend that on the motor thats in the eclipse already and be fast as shit compared to the stock time of the 350Z, maybe a little faster cause of the weight difference! sorry to knock on your project but it seems a little unnecessary to swap and go thru that much work...if you do it though that would be cool and i would give you major props but its your time and money!

Re: VQ35DE in 2g engine bay?

I think it's even funnier when they want to pull an engine out of a 35,000 car that looks fantastic and has a lot of power as it is, to put in a car that's worth around 10,000 (no disrespect to the Eclipse). Honestly, If your disreguarding price as it is, just get a 350z. They aren't bad cars at all.
