I have a question on how well will a stock th350 backed with a stock 8.5" corporate 10 bolt take abuse from a 350sbc putting out around 400 hp. I do plan on taking it to the strip occasionally after I put in my aftermarket gears (3.73:1) and posi (Auburn, Cone style) Thanks.

the th350 is a pretty good tranny, i think you'll be fine there. i've heard the 7.5 rearend is good to about 400hp so if you've got an 8.5 i think ur good there too.

Re: Drive Train question
yeah i would say your probably fine. the only way you might not be is if you run slicks and have alot of traction. if you launch hard then there is a pretty good chane you will break something. but i run close to what your talking about except my trany has had a little work and i have the original 8.2 rear. but like i said unless you launch really hard im sure you will be fine.

Re: Drive Train question
Thanks guys. I do plan on going over my TH350 in the future. At that time I plan on putting some extra horses into my motor. I plan on using something similar to CHPs impersonator motor (425hp with 528ftlbs of torque). Do you think with new rear end gears, posi, and a rebuilt th350 that I would still be in the clear? Thanks again

Re: Drive Train question
well, lemmi put it this way, the TH350 is one of the most popular drag racing trannies around, second to the TH400, at least in the GM lineup, i guess the powerglide is actually first but whatever. the 8.2 is pretty strong, should handle that powerlevel if you dont do alot of neutral drops, i think if you put a B&M kit in the trans, and build the rear proporly, with a stud girdle, youll be fine.
