dirty seats!!

hey everyone i'm new to this board =)
i own a 2001 jetta 1.8T automatic and i guess it's still in a pretty good condition to what i've heard about VW jetta problems.
but lately my A/C has broken down, and i'm about to go fix it later on when i have time.

anyway my question is, how do u guys get rid of those dirty lints and hair on the seats!!!!! (mine is in black velour) i've tried lint brushes, and tapes. (it's not helping a lot) so now i'm thinking if i shampoo it would it be better?

oh and one more thing, those stupid plastic r peeling off too..any idea on how to fix this problem??
