Post Engine swap options.. ?(also any advice on what to look 4 in a 944?)

So what are the popular engine swaps for the 944? I have heard about the nissan sr20det(sp?) a few times but have had no luck finding a site that has info on this or ANY swap for a 944 other then a small block chevy swap...
I have also seen a few ppl that have breifly menioned something about putting a s2000's f20c engine in a 944 but no mention at all to someone actualy doing it. This swap really appeals to me since its a really high revving engine that makes a great deal of hp but with out the aid of forced induction that may give me problems down the road. and yet wont kill me on gas. Plus it being honda I think its safe to assume if taken care of it should have a long healthy life.. lol
Yeah so, any info or opinions on a few engine's to swap would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and does anyone have any advice on what to look for/avoid when looking for a 944? I have read from a few different people that looking for the right 944 is somewhat complicated.. Is there a buy'ers guide website that I can browse threw?

Thanks

Advise for buying a 944.

Popular engine swaps are the SBC, the S2 and the 968 engine. I've never seen any other engine swaps completed. If someone has done it, please enlighten me and post photos and a how-to.

Just out of curiosity how do they go about hooking up a tranny? do they keep the porshe tranny or go with the one for the engine that they swap in?

They use a custom bellhousing to adapt the engine to the torque tube. They also use a 951 tranny cause it's stronger and has higher gearing.

Why does everyone want to swap out the 944 engine? Porsche engines are tough and reliable. As far as making HP its you wallet thats the limit. For not much over 10K you can have yourself a turbo car that makes close to 400 hp. Why would you want to add the weight and trashiness of a small block chevy? Or even worse a Honda-talk about "no respect" bastard. No offense but it sounds like you should stick to your civic with ground effects and a "can" on your exhaust.

thanks for the link 83-944 .

Reasons to swap another engine in.. Parts for the porsche engine will be expencive and hard to find compared to other engines(or so I have read)..
I am really weary of buying an older turbo car to be honest but it really doesnt matter becuase I cant afford what a somewhat nice turbo would cost. I dont care much for the small block chevy idea either, I am not looking for another drag racing muscle car. Already had two/have one. 8mpg thing gets old quick. hehe And there is nothing wrong with being a little unique.
As for your closeminded remark pertraying me as a ricer... I wont even really dignify that with a responce but I will say it is funny . The VTEC f20c(or what ever its called) in the s2000 is no joke and deserves respect. Even if it gets abit overhyped by the "tuner" crowd.
but it seems this is nothing more then another "resto vs hotrod" type arguement in wich we will just have to disagree on things

peace
