2.4L check engine codes/procedure...little info if you please

Hey all, Mom has a 99 Breeze and the check engine light is on. I'd like to help her out -- where can I find the codes and procedure for checking the computer? I recall that it's turn the ignition on/off 5 times in 3 secs or something like that, but not sure.

Thanks for the input, just a site to look it up on would be great.

(Yes, checked gas cap, they're replacing it and will let me know)

Off and on 3 times in 5 seconds, you have that part backwards.

Turn the key on, off, on, off, on. Leave it on and watch how many times the lights blink. All codes are 2 digits long. It might flash once, brief pause, and flash again twice, and then a long pause. This code would be 12. After that, if there are anymore codes, it will flash again in the same fashion. When I read codes I sit in the driver's seat with a notepad and mark down the codes, it's easier that way.

Check the bottom of this page for what you need. You should probably check under the 2001 list even though you have a 1999, but it's your problem, you can look.

here's a quickie:
hold the odo reset button down and turn on the ignition.
Codes may come up in odometer!

I haven't tried this on a breeze, but it works on a '01 Sebring!
