1990 carb suggestions...???

Just picked up a 1990 Tercel with the 1-bbl variable venturi carb that my shop says needs to be replaced (the carb). I'm told those carbs had problems and am wondering if there are any options that'll fit the car besides that same carb. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Performance carb would be impossible to find, and FI probably isnt an option. If you want to save money on a junkyard part, try www.car-part.com as I've had luck locating used and rebuilt parts there. I would take a rebuilt over an aftermarket anyways.

Re: 1990 carb suggestions...???

theres a couple of performance carbs avaiilable though none are street legal so you may end up with emmissions problems during inspections. Also some dbl barrel carbs off a some cars (@ junkyard) would also work however you would need to make a mounting plate, if you're not too experienced this may be a little difficult and as it is carb setting can be a little tricky. If you found a 91-94 tercel at a junk yard you could also swap out the parts and make your car fuel injection , you'd obviously need all the FI parts and the harness + ecu, and you'd have to get an external fuel pump. I dont know how much this is all worth to you but my point is the options are there.

Re: 1990 carb suggestions...???

hey there...

Yea ... I have a 1990 Toyota Tercel... Not a bad car... but a bastard carb. they are fixed-mixture and so-on... not to mention that vaccuum conglomeration on top of it ...ANYWAYZ

if you are interested, i did an engine swap in my car, and the used motor i got CAME with another carb.... so... i have an extra carb that functions as far as i know... make me an offer if you are interested... they sell for upwards of $600 at a dealer... so they say.... has approx 88k miles on it
