94 accord brake problem

94 accord brake problem. "ONLY" of warm days this happens. As it gets hotter in the day. If I sit at a redlight or apply the brakes hard for an extended period of time, my brake pedal will drift to the floor. I have plenty of brakes , pads are good, lines are good, fluid level is good. Could it be in the master cylinder or the slave cylinder causing this? any help is apprieciated. thanks

probably the master cylinder.

when i reversed, my brake pedal went all the way down to floor but kept going, had to use emergency brake to stop. This is with all new brake pads.

had the master cylinder replaced, brakes very good now, forward & reverse.

to keep you new master cylinder good shape, replace brake fluid every 3 yrs, or 30,000 miles. Brake fluid absorbs, Moisture and will ruin the seals, master cylinder again.

Especially if you have ABS, changing brake fluid important for proper function.

Re: 94 accord brake problem

I too have the problem with my 94 Accord Sedan. I was guessing it is the master cylinder also, because I have checked the pads, rotors, and lines. I'll have to call my mech. this week and see if he can do anything.

Re: 94 accord brake problem

It is the master cylinder. The cup or seal inside it is worn and can't hold the fluid under pressure anymore. Replace it ASAP! It's very dangerous if you can't stop your vehicle when you need to. And it's a good time to bleed and replace the brake fluid too.

Re: 94 accord brake problem

Secondary seal is going out. When the casing gets hot it swells and causes bypassing of the secondary. If you wait to long it wont matter if it gets hot out or not. That is the most common problem with master cylinders.

Thanks for the info. I figured it was the Master. I'll look at getting a new one installed asap. any one know about what it should cost to be replaced. should I only use honda parts, or are other brands OK. thanks again.

95mugenaccord my accord is also shaking during high speed braking, but same as yours good pads, rotors, both halh shafts have been replaced.

Re: 94 accord brake problem

I'm taking the accord in to have the master cylinder replaced thursday.

I think shaking at "high speed" is a pretty common occurance =P It's when it ALWAYS shakes that you have a problem. You could probably resolve this with a Brembo GranTurismo brake kit... >=)

Re: 94 accord brake problem

I took it to the mechanic this morning. He quoted me at around $240 to replace the master cylinder =( That could have gone towards new rims, but I guess having working brakes is pretty important too.
