drag racing...risky? (for the car)

alright guys, as some of you may know, i went to the track once, and left with a 15.8 as my best run. I'm not happy with that number, and know that i can improve.

with that said, this time i'm getting jitters about racing again. last time i went, my friend blew the transmission on his Ford Probe. Although the exact reason that happened is still unknown to me, it was probably his new racing flywheel and clutch (probably misinstalled).

what i want to know, exactly how damaging is it to the car to race it? i DO NOT have any forced induction (including NOS), just headers and intake. i'm gonna go anyways...i just want to have fun racing without worrying i'm gonna break my car. its a '97 with 98.8k miles on it. watcha thinik?

anytime you take your car out its a risk.. Cars break and cars last a long time. It's all a risk man. Your cars a risk as well as your life. But how fun would life be without taking risks???

dude, its common knowledge, forcing a car to its fullest wears the parts and overheats the car pretty quickly and overall beats the engine pretty bad.......... though a race here and there wont hurt
