Re: Camry 2000 V6
You'll need a lot to install a turbo on a Camry. Although since you have a V6, you can purchase a TRD supercharger instead, which I think would be much easier to install than a turbo kit. If you want to install a turbo kit, you'll need a new exhaust manifold, an intercooler, the turbo itself, a new, deeper oil pan, etc. In my honest opinion, you'd be better off with the TRD supercharger. If I had a V6 in my Camry, that's what I would do.

Hi dear
thanks for your replay i heard if i install a turbo kit in my v6 Camry i will get a problem about Too Much Boost: With air being pumped into the cylinders under pressure by the turbocharger, and then being further compressed by the piston (see How Engines Work for a demonstration), there is more danger of knock. Knocking happens because as you compress air, the temperature of the air increases. The temperature may increase enough to ignite the fuel before the spark plug fires. Cars with turbochargers often need to run on higher octane fuel to avoid knock. If the boost pressure is really high, the compression ratio of the engine may have to be reduced to avoid knocking. see http://www.turbo-kits.com/how_turbos_work4.html so what i have to do ? cahnge pistons for exampil or what ? and what about TRD supercharger is it like turbo ? can u give me a site which talk about it plz THANK FRIEND |

Re: Camry 2000 V6
Here is my favorite site, although it is not related directly to your engine. Alot of the probelms you may run into are talked about.
http://www.gadgetonline.com/4run.htm Here is the TRD website: http://www.toyota-trd.com/en/index.html The TRD superchargers are meant to be used without engine modification. You may need to use premium gas and keep a closer eye on your belts, but that is all. Read about Gadget's optimization of his 4Runner above. |

Re: Camry 2000 V6
Yep, Brian's pretty much got you covered there. Brian's correct about the supercharger, it requires no modification, all you do is bolt it on, and put the belt on. Plain and simple. This is why many choose the supercharger over the turbocharger.
