2000 GTP Died ?

Was off to a meeting in mom-inlaws car when she suddenly says "ive got no power".
Were on a slight upgrade and the car started slowing down. She made it to the right lane and hit the cirb a little hard seeing as the power brakes were gone. Got half onto the shoulder and the car died.

Got it to a shop this eve but would still like some input if possible.

While on the side of the road it would start. Then idle right down, clicks, sputter, then die. (there was gas in it) Try to start again and then give it gas to rev it up but to no avail. Clicks, Sputter, then die.

Had loss of power steering and I believe power brakes as well.
Was told that just before the loss of power got "check gauges" warning on the heads up display on the windshield.

Other than that dont know what elses to say other than a repeat.
No power stearing or brakes.
Will turn over and try to idle for about 5-9 secs then click like crazy from under the hood. Sputters and shakes then dies.

Ran great before. No indication of any problems before. Just happened.

Sounds like it could be the fuel pump resistor

all the check gauges lit up? i would like to point out the obvious did you check the serpentine belt? when you turned the key to the accessories position did you hear the fuel pump huming like it was kicking over if not the ripin12's is probably right or the pump is cashed.

Re: 2000 GTP Died ?

That sounds exactly like what my '97 did when the fuel pump died. Except I don't think my "check gauges" thing came on. I feel sorry for you if you have to replace the fuel pump...$258 and change, and that was what the dealership paid for it, not retail. Plus $100 labor.

Turns out that is exactly what it was.
She still has waranty so not a problem there.

The freaky thing is, that after they fixed that and went to take the car out of the bay; It started to drive off while in nuetral. Not just a coast or roll. It was in gear.
Turns out some bearing went.
Just a total fluke that the two things happened almost simutaniously. Have to say lucky though. Seein as the car was still in the shop it really saved for a lot more hassels.
Like what are the odds of that? Id bet on the Leafs winnin the Stanley Cup before Id bet on that.

Everything has been fixed. All paid by warranty.
Thanx for the input
