'89 Integra dash in 86 CRX?
Hey guys, I just wanted to give us a new topic to discuss other than the usual: how to lower, what bodykits fit, etc.
Has anyone ever swapped out their CRX SI dash for an '89 Integra? I've been thinking about doing this swap for a while and was wondering if anyone has tried this. I have spent countless hours at junk yards looking at Honda and Integras in order to find out what parts will swap over from the different years and models and it seems that this will work (with a bit of modification and re-wiring). I'm sure that I will have to swap out the door panels, but I was wondering if the dash will fit over the CRX internal components and heater etc. Part of the reason that i am thinking about this swap is because I have tracked down an '88 D16-ZC, but mainly because I just want to do something a little different to my car (and get an Integra tilt steering column in the process). Any info or thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Last edited by lxndr; 04-29-2004 at 08:23 PM. |

I must have got lucky, my 86 si has a tilt column. hey, do you know if the 89 teg has a better shifter than the 86 si? and would it fit on the 86?

Oh yeah, Pace Setter also makes a short shifter, but quality of the the DC Sports shifter is WAY better than the Pace Setter shifter (duh). Last edited by lxndr; 05-02-2004 at 01:13 AM. |

I did that swap in my 87 Hatchback, It is quite intense as the dash was about 3/4" wider than the civic dash. I had to remove all of hte mounting points and steering column support fronn both the civic and the Integra donar car that I had. the side mounts for the dash I had to fab up myself. With the dash inplace I found that I will have to convert to power windows and make my own door panels to match up with the dash.

Thanks!
That is exactly the kind of info that I need! I'm not afraid of fabricating my own parts, I've done many custom interiors. I just don't want to put a huge amount of effort into this car since it will never be a show car. |

I'm not sure if the CRX dash is the same width as the Civic dash. If they are then it is doable. let me know I might want to put a crx dash in the sedan.

Anyway... When I was at the junkyard comparing parts for this swap, they didn't have a CRX available (they usually have about 3 at any given time), they only had a Civic SI. I took all of my measurements off of the Civic and compared them to the Integra. I later took the measurements from the Civic and compared them to my CRX and they seemed exactly the same. I didn't compare the profile of the Civic dash to my CRX, they seem the same but you might also have to swap the door panels from the CRX so that they match with the dash. I'm not sure if the CRX door panels will just pop right on your Civic, but I'm pretty sure that they will attach one way or another. In doing this swap you might also loose your tilt steering column since this was not a common option for a CRX. |

I hope you remember to swap your VIN plate before you put the windshield in!
