Question on 2003 Taurus

Hi,

I just bought this car a couple of weeks ago and just had a general question about the heating/cooling system. I notice that when I want to use either the heat or the a/c it works fine on the high setting but really hardly works at all on the low and medium settings. I was wondering if this is something that might be common to this car or should I get it looked at?

Thanks a lot.

Lynne

I haven't noticed any problem with my AC or heat (and here in Michigan, you notice when your heat isn't working!!), this is my 2nd 2003 Taurus. I do know that when you start the AC, you don't feel liek you rin a wind tunnel, but it does work well. I usually turn mine on at the second level of normal AC and only have to leave it on there for about five minutes and it lasts fine. I would use it for a few more weeks and if you don't think it's working well, take it into the dealership. If it needs fixing, better to do it sooner rather than later. Good luck!!

Re: Question on 2003 Taurus

You didn't mention if you bought new or used but if used, check the HEPA cabin air filter located under the cowling on the passengerside. Info to change should be in your owner's manual. Mine gathers enough debris in 8-12 months to restrict the air flow as you have mentioned.

Re: Question on 2003 Taurus

I think it's the same problem I had. There's something that needs replacing, but I can't remember its name. Try asking on the forums at http://www.taurusclub.com.
