anti-theft fuel pump

woke up and security light was on meaning the anti-theft mode was engaged had to be towed as would not start in anti-theft mode. when vehicle goes into the anti-theft mode it also shuts off the fuel pump incase of theft however when dealership received car the diagnosis
was replace fuel pump we let them however does anyone else find this to be strange? since anti theft being engaged triggers the fuel pump to shut down? very strange to us any suggestions????? THANKS
