parting out (possibly)

how much do you think i could get for a 92 maxima se v6 engine with 131000 miles on it? I am strongly considering sell off my car in parts. FYI-- I live in Brooklyn, NY.

Re: parting out (possibly)

i have a friend who sold a mid 90's civic all in parts on Ebay and he made over $12,000. it's the smart way to go if you're mechanically inclined and the car has a low book value.

Re: parting out (possibly)

obviously if parting out, alot of things are for sale, incl: seats doors, hood, whatever's under the hood... note: there is no real speaker or stereo system worth writing home about in it, and no airbag (long story)... but if you are serious give me a pm and we'll see whats good

Re: parting out (possibly)

BP2K2MAX, what was the condition of the car, and do you think i could get nearly that much for mine?
I have a rebuilt transmission that is under warranty for another 10 months, a new starter, and all the other stuff under the hood. Admittedly, I am not mechanically inclined. The little that I do know about my car is due to me talking to my mechanic and people like you on this site.

Re: parting out (possibly)

the car body was in pretty good condition. there are so many kids looking for civic parts he may have had a larger audience to sell to. your car is probably worth $3500-$4K to a private party. i'm not mechanically inclined enough to this myself so i don't know how much you could get for what parts but he made the bulk of his money on the body panels cuz they were in good shape. i'll bet you could get at least what the car is worth for just the engine and transmission alone.
