what is the thing under the bumper?

the reason i ask, is that mine is coming aprt, and i want to know what it is, it goes under the bumper and engine bay a little bit, and in front of the tire and such. what is it? is it bad enough to remove? or cut away parts of it?

You mean the inner fender lining aka splash gaurd.

No there is nothing wrong with removing it unless you have an AEM cold Air intake, it puts you more at risk for Hydrolock.

Also it makes your door frames a lot dirtier but other then that they really serve no purpose.

Re: what is the thing under the bumper?

your rather talking about your lower rock gaurd ( that runs along the legnth of the front underneath the bumper or your talking about your main engine undercover that goes from under teh front bumper behind the rock gaurd and runs over to the bottom fender well and over by the oil pan....either way remove them if you want they have no serious purpose excpet for keeping road debris out of your engine and so forth...but remember that road grime-road salt-rain and mud puddles and road dbris splashing up on your engine-pulleys-intake and electrical componants isnt exactly a great thing
