Lightbulb Beginner Engine Question

I know it may seem obviouse to some of you, but I have a few quick questions again.

What is the difference between the 93-94 7-bolt engine and the 97 7-bolt engine?

Will a 93 7-bolt engine fit directly into my 97 gsx?

If not - what steps need to be taken (any major parts, labor work)

Last - How much power (compared to the original motor) will I lose?
The 93 engine im putting in there has no modifications what so ever -

Thanks again if you answer any of these questions, Im just trying to get some answers from people who DO know what there doing.

(The Engine won't cost me a thing to get, so Thats why im wondering If I should replace the one I have in it now. The one I have in it now has 105,000 and I want to start modifying heavy) please let me know wut u think.

Re: Beginner Engine Question

if you are going to replace it, get a 6-bolt 4g63 if you can. other wise as long as it is a 4g63 it will be a direct fit.

Re: Beginner Engine Question

Soo... I can switch the 2 motors, with no modification fits, and still use the mods I have on my car now for the new engine?

(Put the 93' talon motor in, and still use the upper intercooler pipe, stock t25 turbo, and downpipe w/ exhaust ect.. from the motor I have now) Right?
Sorry if it sounds stupid, but I dont wanna risk it by doing something that'll F' up my car.

There is more to it than that. The main thing is that a 2G uses a Crank Angle sensor to tell the ECU when to fire plugs and injectors. The 1G motor will use a Cam Angle sensor to do the same. If you go to a DSM specific site (www.dsmtuners.com www.dsmtalk.com www.teamnabr.com ) and search for this swap you will find all the little things that need to be done. I also wanna say that the motor mounts are different but I believe that this is only for the oe on the tranny. If you keep the stock tranny you should be fine.

the only motor mount that is different is the one on the motor... very right side if looking into the engine bay!
