Re: 89 suburban

THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO IS CHECK ALL THE OTHER POWERWINDOWS AND CHECK IF THEY ALL WORK, BECAUSE IF NONE OF THEM WORK IT COULD JUST BE A FUSE, ANOTHER THING YOU SHOULD DO IS PRESS THE BUTTON TO HEAR IF YOU HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING, BECAUSE IF THE MOTOR IS WORKING IT CAN BE A LOOSE WIRE OR SIMPLY THE WINDOW TRACKING HAS GONE BAD, BUT IF ONLY THAT PARTICULAR WINDOW DOESNT WORK IT IS PROBABLY THE WINDOW SWITCH OR IT CAN ALSO BE THE WINDOW MOTOR, THE WINDOW MOTOR SHOULD BE MOUNTED ON WITH A FEW SCREWS, MAKE SURE THE WINDOW GLASS IS UP AND UNPLUG THE PLUG THAT GOES DIRECTLY ONTO THE WINDOW MOTOR, HOLD THE MOTOR WHILE YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, I BELIEVE SOME CARS MAY CAR RIVETS IM NOT SURE IF YOURS WOULD, BUT IF YOU TRUCK HAS RIVETS YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO DRILL THROUGH THEM, WHEN THE SCREWS OR RIVETS ARE REMOVED YOU CAN REMOVE THE MOTOR, MOUNT THE NEW ONE ON WITH THE SAME SCREWS OR YOU CAN PROBABLY USE RIVETS, NOW JUST CONNECT THE PLUG AGAIN AND IT SHOULD BE WORKING, I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU IN SOME WAY, PEACE

Cool Suburban Rear Door

Fuse check first,
Check if the switch works on the console
Check if your key works in the back
What I found with my 'burban was the orange/black wire was rotted at the connection just under the rear up at the bumper. (that's your live)
Pull the connecton apart and check it. Mine was registering 12volts , but was completely rusted (to green powder) inside and unable to pump the amps through.
Next thing, get inside with a cordless drill and take the plastic panel off, then the center steel panel. You now have full access to the motor and the leads. You should check for juice on the same wire (I believe it goes to the key switch) If no juice, your motor is probably OK.
If you end up having to yank the motor from the inside, stick a 2x2 or something under the window, or it will take off your fingers. There are 3 main bolts and the whole assembly comes off. Be careful.
Once the motor's out, drop the window, lower the gate and work on it from the outside - much easier.
It is a pain in the rear to fix...

Shoot - forgot to ask you if it was locked up or down.

If it is locked down, all you need to do is undo the glass from the metal X frame (2 bolts on each side) Then pull the glass out the top. Simple.
