Re: JDM TT Power

The 1G series is an antique of the I6 Toyota engines, with the 1g-gte being the most powerfull (relitivly speaking because the 7m-ge is more powerfull than it stock with all it's whopping 200hp). It came in the GA70 Supra and a number of other jap/aus/euro Toyota's. It's a down grade for any MA70 Supra, less HP potential, less displacment, much harder to find parts for in the US, much harder to find someone who knows what there doing to it, and so on and so forth. You can import a GA70 half-cut, but for the same price you could have a JZA70 half-cut with more HP potential and more aftermarket support (still not much in the US compared to the 7M though). It's definetly not quicker off the line than anything besides a honda, it might seem fast because of the low gearing, no more high speed highway runs. It is a very relible engine though, I6 so it's very smooth, small square stroke/bore so it's also very rev-happy, but it's much better suited to a smaller car like the corolla's and celica's it's swapped into everyday, over the tank of a car we call the Supra. There are a few other differences between the MA70's and GA70's but there not really relivient I guess.
