'87 Astro Heat/AC Fan Switch

Before the temps rise, I want to fix my fan switch on my van. Twice before, I found used switches and replaced them, and both times, it would work only on low and medium, then eventually stopped working at all. I now have tracked down another switch AND a new fan (it seems it quit too) and have hooked up the fan...it works well..BUT...when I hooked up the switch, same thing happens: it works in low and medium, but not in high.

Any clues as to why the darn thing won't work in high? This is driving me nuts!

Next to the blower motor is a resistor. You need to replace it. It's a dealer item only.

Thanks PCV..Í did find another post about the resistor as wll..I´ll give it a go this week. Perhaps this is what has burned out the last three switches?

I am soooooo pleased to find this forum...with a '86 Saab 900, an '87 Astro, and an '89 Saab 9000, this forum is a Godsend!

Is the resistor close to the blower on the newer models too??-I am going to a great junkyard in Richmond this Friday and they usually have more of the post-'90 models. I am hoping that the resistor is always right up front like on mine. Also hoping to find some electric window motors while I'm at it. "Have screwdriver, will travel"!
