want info on the thrasher shift kit

The thrasher web-site says it can be installed from "Mild" to "Bang-Screech", are there any settings in between or just 2 options?

I have a 98 GP GT, bought it a week ago. Have since pulled the screen, and put in a K&N, but would like firmer shifts.

anyone else have this kit installed in a non SC car?
Are there other manufacturer's of shift kits for the GP?

Re: want info on the thrasher shift kit

From the site:

This kit allows the tailoring of your shift feel to the way YOU like it. ... You select the improvement desired modification level from mild (noticeable improvement) to wild ("bang-screech", our personal favorite:-) that best suits your taste and driving style.

And:

What if I select the "barely noticeable" option and later decide I want more? Do I need to buy another kit? ... Nahhh. Using our kit you can switch between the available options. We don't promise unlimited reuse, but with due care taken with the gaskets during the installation/removal process you should easily get a second (possibly three or more) shot at tuning. You can select the spring constants and piston travel to yield the level of performance that you desire.

So I can deduct that the Mild and wild are the least and most pressure changed shift kit settings but you can set it up to anything on the middle.

Re: want info on the thrasher shift kit

I have mine set on stage 2 (thrasher shift kit)(3 being max RACE setting) and I have so many mile on my trans the clutch plates are so warn out it actually made it worse and its still getting worse (Im waiting till it blows so i can get a new one) When going from 1st to 2nd, i will increase the boost to about 5 psi and my car will start to vibrate, and when i run it up to 10 to 10.5 pounds of boost it viberates really bad. It only started doing that when i put the shift kit in and drove around for about a 2 weeks, till it started to viberate! I think its going because my buddys parents Ford ranger has 240XXX miles on it and that trans is slipping really bad and the last time i was in it, it viberated like mine does under heavy exceleration.
So anyways if you have higher milage on that car man you might wanna think twice. ....watch out.

ohh yeah in the directions it says it might induce more slipping for higher milage vehicles.

info received from Thrasher

here is the info I received from Thrasher:

Actually the GT's have the 4T65E trans as well, but the GTP's have
the HD version of the same trans. The shift kit will work for either
one.

As for the settings, there are 3 different ones. There is the mild, an
intermediate, and the "bang-screech" setting. Most of our
customers that are using the shift kit in their everyday driver usually
goes with the intermediate setting.

Rock, to tell if the problem is that your clutches are too soft you could add a cap of Wagner DOT 3 brake fluid to your tranny oil. It it starts to drive better then you will need to fix the tranny real soon cause the clutches are at the very end.

Re: want info on the thrasher shift kit

so your basicallly telling me to add brake fluid, if it helps i, I will need a trans really soon? Is that because of the brake fluid or just because the trans has seen better days? I think i might know where your getting at but i just want to make sure!

Re: want info on the thrasher shift kit

Brake fluid sounds like a self fullfilling profeciey... You add it it makes things slip more so your harsh high pressure shifts to counteract slip also slip.... i.e. brake fluid makes your car slip more, and finsishes off the clutches
