92 sunbird bogging down...

i have about 100,000 miles its been amazing for the year i've had it. up until now
my car was boggin down at random speeds, id be on the thruway and it woudlnt speed up at 40 as i pushed on teh gas then suddenly it woudl kick in.

also when i turn on my car sometimes my car would shake ridiculously so id turn it off and turn it back on and it'd be fine.

any ideas of what it might be
I'm clueless

Well a couple things could be causing this sensation.
I would look at secondary ignition first. This engine uses a "waste spark" type ignition where 2 cylinders share spark..if a coil or module is going bad, the misfire you feel will be on 2 cylinders..
You didn't tell us if you have a 2.0 or a 3.1 engine

ah im not too sure which it is, my dad supposedly looked at it yesterday but he's a kind of "i hit it and it works" man haha
but it has gotton worse i tried driving it to work and it takes a good min and half to get it to even go over 10mph it sounds like a putt putt car.
but i think i heard him say something about a coil.
i'll tell him about those other things too in case it keeps acting up
THANK YOU!

Re: 92 sunbird bogging down...

Actually, mine did the exact same thing.

Mine is a 1993 2.0L LE, and it would bog down like how dizzy mentioned every time i started the car. (Coincidentally, I lived in the city at that time...it rarely does it when Im in the small town I originate from. Maybe like twice since Christmas.)
