I already have an exhaust system on my 98 Trans Am and i want to add a nice pair of headers along with a y pipe for the extra air flow and sound. i've heard that slp long tube headers have very low clearance from the ground, is this true for all long tubes? Also any suggestions as to what headers and y pipe i should get for a good price. so far my top option is hooker but curious to know what anyone else thinks

I have pacesetters. They are the only headers(Mids or LTs) that I've put on that you have no trouble putting the passenger sides in. The driver side you have to take the steering column off for about 5 seconds to slide the header up in but that's it. At least you don't have to mess with your oil filter though like you do on FLPs and Macs.
The Ypipe is beefy...but you will want a muffler shop to heat it up and bend it down a bit otherwise it will tap the floor plan a bit. you have to also for the driver's side header, cut a little piece of your kmember off(less then 1/4") to keep it from rubbing. don't sweat it..its not enough to do anything strength/structure wise to the kmember. They flow great, tuck up nice and were very easy to put in. Hope this helps.

Recently installed a set of Edelbrocks on a 96 Firebird. Good quality and fit. I would recommend them.

Yes, and anything on an LT1 will wake up the car(good choice btw). Violator...don't bother with shorties on an LS1. Our manifolds are basically shorties...you'll gain like 3-4rwhp with shorties. Go with at least a MAC mid-lengths or a set of Long Tubes.

No problem. If you decide to go with Pacesetter, I would say contact Jason at Texas Speed and Performance. They have the best price on the Pacesetters. 806-866-0734 or [email protected]
