Engine Swap; I have a Dream!

I've wanted to see if this is possible sence I got my teg... and I found a place to get a JDM K20A Swap... and well... anyone have a clue how hard it would be to fit in my teg? I figure if I'm going to spend $5,500 on the engine (more than I paid for my car ) then there isn't much worry on costs... Would I have to cut much of the chasis? Because it's only .2 L larger... the physical size of the engine couldn't be THAT much could it? I mean if an F20B would fit, why not a K20A? ANYWAY; I just wanted to see what you guys think, because I don't know of anyone who's tried this yet (my luck someone has) but I want to be able to say I did it...

How cool would it be to have a 2nd gen teg (which except for my head lights I'm going for the JDM look) with a damn 2002 Type-R Engine in it? What do the guru's of AF think of this? Is it even worth trying?

Thanks

Re: Engine Swap; I have a Dream!

Anything is possible. Teh biggest problems you are going to run into are that the motor sits in the engine bay backwards from your B18A, which means that the tranny is on the driver's side instaed of the passenger's side. Also the wiring I have heard is a nightmare. There is a guy on AF that has done this, can't remember his name though. If I see him on the boards I will send you a pm and you can ask him what he had to do.

Well that would seem a bit obvious.

Can you explain more about the wiring? Also I thought of this, as you said engine mounts, would I have to fabricate some?

5500 for an engine swap is just insane. It is definately not worth it to me. I would just get a gsr engine for about half the price, build up internals and go turbo or stay N/A if you prefer. But 5500 is way too much. Wouldnt it be funner to smoke everyone on the street(well not all,but most) than to say I have a k20? Woo Hoo big deal. For that price you could just buy another integra. Cuz no offense to you but i like the 94+ much better. Well good luck with what ever you go with. Sorry if I dont make sense im just retarded.

Well I like the 2nd gens more than the 3rd. So I don't want a new integra. From what I've seen a GSR motor (or 5 more HP for a Type-R) is only $1000 less. Plus the K20 has a stroker kit to make it a 2.4L and is capable of more power. So it's worth it, maybe if I wanted to do the same as everyone else I would go for a GSR or Type-R. I like the idea of 220 HP stock... I might not do it, but I'm interested enough to see if I can.

screw the stroker.

Get a k24 block from a tsx (not from an element..or crv..yes theres a difference between them all) and slap a k20a type-r head on it.

Thanks, if I ever looked at the TSX I would have known about the K24... that's a damn good idea. Props man.

Re: Engine Swap; I have a Dream!

I think Hasport has some K series mounts now they are pretty crazy looking though, the upper engine mount on the driver's side is where they use a special mount for the tranny etc. I can't remember but I think the mount kit consisted of about 5-8 pcs.

here is how you do it. first you go to this web site and check out these guys www.hybrid-racing.com. they have the mount kit for the dc integra and ek civic for the direct motor swap and also with the mounts you can get a complete pkug and play ahrness from them that no one else has. how do i know this you ask? well, because these guys are my best friends and they own a shop vcallled hybrid racing. i was there from the beginning when this project was still just living on our notebook and when we got ahold of our ek hatch it was on. we spent about a month working on the harness alone making sre that everything worked perfectly. when it first ran it was like christmas all over again. i tell you that that car pulls faster than any honda i have ever ridden in. we ran it on the track a few months ago and complete stock motorswap it ran a 13.550 all day. we just receently ran a k-pro from hondata in it and are planning on netting 12's with no problem. if you guys dont believe me on this then go to tohis website and see for yourselves. log into the the forum and ask as many questions as you desire. we have a section made just for the k20 hatch and its questions and other sections for all other types of discussion. aslo if you are really interested and want to talk to someone in person then call 985.951.8588 and ask for will and he should be able to answer your questions.
