Distributor Cap Arcing ??????

Hey All,

I just installed an Accell distributor cap because I thought the arcing (ash looking deposits on the terminals inside the cap) was occuring rapidly inside the autozone cap.

I now see that the same is happening on the new accel cap.

My ????? is this. The wire looms I have the plug wires routed with are metal. I installed them without using the rubber grommets that were supplied because I would have had to disassemble brand new wires. The wires are just installed into the metal looms. Do ya think would cause grounding on All of the plugs and cause the deposits??

I think if you were grounding the wires, you would notice some missing under load. I believe those grommets are mainly to protect the wire insulation from being cut or abraded from the metal looms. New 8mm wires shouldn't be arcing to anything.
Those aluminum terminals inside distributor caps build up deposits pretty quickly from arcing.....I don't know if anybody sells caps with copper terminals anymore.

if the inside of the cap has grey deposits. its normal no matter where you get the cap from. if it starts to miss then worry about the cap other wise drive on
