92 manual transmission question

I've got a 92 Escort with manual transmission that started to pull to the right with no warning yesturday. Today it jumps and clanks when I put it in gear and let out the clutch. I checked the cv joints, they were ok but the differential appeared to be stripped or something. I guess my question is, is this common, and is the fix for this just to replace the transmission? thanks

Re: 92 manual transmission question

Hmm... sounds like you have a bit of work to do.
Most likely you have some serious transmission repairs to do, or just replace it. You might find when you remove the axles that the inner ends are damaged, so you may need to replace them too.

Had there been any previous work on this engine or transmission? Any reason that the mounts may have been loose?
