Re: Z28 guage cluster ( ridge runner )

its cool, you do good work. i tried putting a
digital guage system from out of a 89 ta
in my 87 ta and the color coding was different.
i just wired up the factory one. i have one of those sterring wheels too, and also got some amber front signal lights for the 85 that goes in the nose.

Re: Z28 guage cluster ( ridge runner )

i would say that this car will be one bad machine
when it gets done. this kind of camaro is a little bit lighter than the z28s. ive been tempted to
turn the 85 camaro that ive got into a race car.
i still cant get rid of it. was going to just give it to the person that hauls it off.

Re: Z28 guage cluster ( ridge runner )

no. i once saw a firebird in the junk yard with
corvette syle ground effects. it was like the
saleen body kit. with a row of like 4 vents in
front of the door. did you see that christmas
monster garage with the red firebird that looked
like a ferrari? thats kind of what it looked like.
i dont know if they would work on a camaro or not.
i know were a 90 iroc is sitting in a junk yard
and it has a perfect nose ground effect kit and
back bumper. i will check to see if its still there.
it might have been stripped

Re: Z28 guage cluster ( ridge runner )

hey i have a transmission question. the tranny
its a 700r4 85 camaro. when i bought the car
they said it had something wrong and wouldnt
shift. i drove it car came with a 305 it got up to
30mph i figured it should shift it didnt. i gave it a littile more gas and and all of a sudden i slams
into second and the car went all over the road.
i went to pull off the road to go up the road were i live it slammed back into first. well i took out the
motor and tranny together. when i seperated them
the ear was gone off the torque converter. do you
think that would cause it?

Re: Z28 guage cluster ( ridge runner )

well i bought off a guy with a repair shop. the owner
didnt want it, he sold it to the mechanic for 300
i saw it, and asked about it. he told me that it
had a 350 in it. and he was asking 250 for it.
he started it it started good and sounded good.
and yes it sounded like a 350. got it home and parked it, i was going to fix this car up and give it
to my little brother when he got his license. we started looking under the car. and all behind the
passenger side door had been caved in. but the
out side was slick. not a wave, i bet it had 3 or 4
Gallon buckets of bondo in it. the car was needing a new back bumper i went to take it off, there was
no seam in the passenger side rear bumper. it was
bondo'ed togethermy brother took a sledge hammer
and hit it one good time and that part of the car
fell off so i scrapped that project and keept the motor and transmission. we took the motor appart
to find that it was only a 305, three of the pistons
crumbled when we took them out. i cyclinder was scratched, the man at pro performance, a local
need for speed shop, bored it 40 over and it still
didnt clean up all the scratches, all the others cleaned up on 30. so he put a sleeve in it, and i
ordered silv-olite hyperutectic pistons for it.
that was about 400 dallars. and redone the heads
for about 235 dallars. i havnt got it back together yet. but im working on it. you know that timing chain issue. thats what was wrong with the
engine in my trans am. i put a double roller in it
it seems it has a lot more power now thats fixed
and the timing is right. i got my heads back for
my rs they have had some port polishing done
to them and had new valves and valve seals put
in it. i hope to get them on tomarrow and see how
she runs. it would puff smoke when i would start it.
as for the ls6 intake on the ss. i dont know if i have time right now. im thinking about selling the trans am. and i got the 10 spoke ss rims from that wrecked ss on my ss now they look a lot better than the silver 5 star design ss wheels. my 01 back
bumper and spoiler's going to cost 400 to be repainted, im going to check someplace else to see
if it can be done cheaper. ive had a lot in savings
but its almost gone.
