Transmission shifting

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I recently bought a 2001 Intrigue GL 3.5 with 71000miles. After about a month of owenership, I noticed if you warmed the car up, shut if off, and restarted and drove, the car would shift hard in every gear. But if you shut it off again, it's fine. I have checked my fluid, it is clean, but I intend to drop the trans pan and replace the filter and fluid. Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing and I only have 33k on it.I will get the transmission serviced as soon as I have time

I have been told that the transmission senses your driving style in a computer and adjusts shifting style accordingly. My '01 Intrigue sometimes begins to shift hard rather than smoothly. I shut off the engine and restart it. This apparently resets the "driving sensor" (if it really exists) and lets me drive in such a way as to elicit smoother shifting. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this explanation (since I can't remember exactly who it was that told me), but what I do seems to work to fix it.

I am new to this site and came looking to see if the tranny with these cars are going to be an ongoing problem....My car was doing the same thing for the past year, shfting hard especially when it gets warm. It stops after the car is off for awhile but will start again soon. Well unfortunatley it is the transmission and will end up needing to be replaced. I got my car with 60,000 miles on it and in now has 98,000. So needless to say I have been driving it for a few months... I took it to three different dealers all of whom told me nothing was wrong with the car... what happens is the cars internal computer makes some "adaptations" to continue the car to run. It will evevtually hit the "max adapt" mode and you tranny will no longer function. I am currently having mine replaced @ a cost of 2,800, and from what I have been reading I wll definitley pay a little extra for the lifetime warranty for future problems. It is very ironic because my last car was a Ford Taurus whick also had many tranny Problems.... I otherwise like this car very much....

I have a 2001 and it does the same thing i took it in to the shop and found out that the switches was bad i dont know the exact name but my extended warraranty picked it up if no waranty u are looking at between 1000 and 2000 or even 3000 so if i was u get a warrant when u buy a car
