engine compatability

I am sure this has been asked, but I cannot find the post. I bought my daughter a 86 mustang that has a stuck 2.3L carb non turbo. What I am wondering is what motor will work without alot of changes. Do I have to find a 2.3L carb, or will the v-6 carb work? I have a car with a running v-6 carb, no title (84 I think). Will that motor work? If not will a 2.3 other than 85-86 work? Basically, I do not have much into the car, and would like to keep it that way. Anyone in the midwest have a 2.3L carb non turbo that I can squeeze in there for a good price? Thanks in advance for the help.
