Re: i want power

you are an idiot, wanna go fast in a straightline? domestics over imports all the way....

imports can keep up with the right tim and money, but a domestic car is so much easier if all you wanna do is run the 1320

Re: i want power

BlackBike, if I were you, I wouldnt get the S15 SR, Mostly because of cost, and transmission issues. But an S14 would be better along the lines of an SR. But if you want gobs of power for the quarter-mile, look into the RB series engines, maybe an RB25?!?

Re: Re: i want power

yea rb will own ove all the sr's in 1/4 mile the sr powerband isn't good at all for 1/4 mile i seen best of 12's on a fully tuned sr motor the ka24de motor is much more potient then a sr for the 1320.. you get power in the low end of the power band and keep it throughout and also lots more toqure off the line..

Re: i want power

u want power? buy a jet engine and strap it to your car. or get a rocket, those put out like 18000 hp.
people keep sayin "i'm buyin a 240sx" and then turns out they don't have the cash or something. get the car and THEN think about soupin it up.

Re: i want power

You only have one line of hope if you are trying to keep up with the domestics, any potent 6 cylinder like the RB line of engines or VG30TT, anything less than a 6 and you will not pass emissions, I've got a 96' Trans am 6sp (god rest her soul), and even turbo type Rs couldn't keep up.
T2 is right, for the 1320 your better off supping up the KA, I saw one with 390hp in the last issue of I think HCi or some mag.
Go with the RB 25 it is cheap, or if you want to be supreme the RB26, but break open the piggy for this one.

Re: Re: i want power

im pretty sure that a dsm (tsi, gsx) will be more than able to keep up to domestics not to mention the evo8 and sti.. but i do see your point for top end 6 or better after around 130 the 4cyld dont pull as hard as a 6cyld b/c of lack of displacement

Re: i want power

The KA is only behind the 25 by approx 100cc. Be that as it may, just go with an RB or KA. SRs are overrated.

Hey watsup man. If I were you, Id get an S13 240sx and swap an Sr20det in it. Just my personal preference, i think the s13's look a lot better than the s14's. I dont think sr20's are overrated...they have great potential. You can either get the red top sr20 which runs about 202hp, or the black top sr20 for a little more cost which runs about 240 hp. (but then again, there are different gen sr 20's - s13, s14, s15). I say go with the red top becasue there are a lot of parts and is easty to catch up witht he black top's power. go check on ebay how much the engine cost.

Say you get the sr20det red top. For a low budget, all you gotta do, is buy a good exhaust sytem (3inch piping)...perhaps, HKS? and then change your interfooler into a front mount intercooler. Do something like 22X9X2.5...but waht ever you prefer. The bigger the better. You will have to do some custom piping. Change your fuel management...get a new fuel pump for your new turbo engine and run it on 440cc fuel injectors and your set. The stock PSI of these engines run 7-8 PSI. Get a air fuel controller, boost that up a little, and then, get a boost controller to boost your PSI up to about 15PSI (for now to be safe...you dont wanna go blowin your engine while boosting 20 PSI). You will see a huge difference. You will be running about 300 + hp for under $1500 in modifications.

If your getting the s13, you can also swap a Ca18 det into it but its will be an older engine with slightly less power. But then again, there will always be parts and options for you to boost it up.

Re: i want power

sr? overrated? if you can explain, ill give you a cookie. but if your explination is "thats the only engine swaps i see in magazines" then no cookie for you.

the fact of the matter is, the SR works.

Re: i want power

thanx i got the car and found a sr20det on one of the sites posted on FAq that im looking into, and i think im gonna take tmantrans advice as far as parts go maybe look around a bit more and see what else i can do with it but as far as my friends go with there domestics, they can eat it cuz i dont really need a rocket ship for my first project, a descent four banger will do for now untill i have more funds and time on my hands and it will still be fun
