2001 Sable Service Engine Light
Hello,
I have a 2001 Sable (Vulcan) and the check engine light is on. The codes read by autozone were P400, P401, and P1405. I know this has something to do with the DPFE sensor but don't know where to go from here. I haven't noticed any difference in performance. Except today for the first time ever, the car failed to crank first time and exhaust fumes were strong after it did crank. After Autozone read the codes, the Service Engine Light stayed off for about a week before coming back on today. Can anyone offer any advice? How easy a job is it to replace the DPFE sensor/ hoses. Thanks in advance. |

These codes are for the EGR Valve,
P0400 is for EGR Flow Malfunction and P0401 is EGR Flow insufficient. I think the P1405 is for Diff pressure EGR upstream hose off or plugged. Do you know where the EGR valve is? Auto Zone should have given you what the codes mean and shown you where the EGR valve was. These are emission related problems and if your car has less that 80K miles on it, it is covered under warranty. All emission related stuff is 5 yr/80K mile warranty by federal law. |

Thanks, I will take it to the dealer and get them to fix it. Thats an even easier solution than I had hoped.
