95 taurus shift mechanism

95 ford taurus has had tranny swapped out due to failure approx 3yrs ago over 125k miles shift lever is very sloppy! wont stay in park sometimes have to repeatedly shove over to park to make sure tooth is locked in or will not restart will on occasion wil rol unless lever is reseated back into park position reverse sloppy and drive positions bad can i adjust linkage easily to recalibrate shifter on steering column? or is it a big enough hassle to let a mechanic take a wak at it?
