Humming Noise from something electrical hearing insidethe CAB

I owne '96 Chevy S-10 Blazer V6 2wheel drive with 115,000 miles. After starting the engine and not moving, I hear an annoying Humming pitch sound inside the cab. It is usually louder when the engine is cold. and has gotten louder over the past month. It is caused by something electrical, because if I unplug a (snap on wire) to the Alternator it will STOP making the NOISE.
The car will start with this wire unplugged, but over time the battery will discharge. I thought the NOISE was traveling from the Alternator, so I replaced it under warrantee, but the sound is still there. I can't track where this BROWN WIRE goes from the Alternator. It must go to some resister or sensor that is not worn out. CAN ANYONE help me out.
THANKS.
