330 times for last night

Our local track opened last night for the first time this year so we finally got to try out the car since the overhaul on the motor and tranny. We was pretty impressed, especially considering it was the first race on the track. Its only 330 feet and the 60 ft. lights wasn't working, but here are our times. To put them in perspective for people that are not familiar with 330 ft. stock SS Camaros and WS6 T/As run 6.0s (usually like 6.06 or 6.02 or so)

1st run, the sun was out, pretty hot, probably close to 80 degrees: RT: .535 330 ET: 4.43

2nd run, sun was beginning to set, still warm, changed lanes (left this time), RT: .516, 330 ET: 4.39.

3rd run, sun was down, temp started coming down slightly, back to right lane and the first run we got a decent burn out: RT; .526, 330 ET: 4.36

4th run, completly dark, temp down more, excellent burnout: RT: .504 330 ET: 4.32

last run, first car in line, so-so burnout: RT: .536, ET: 4.34

We thought it done great, epecially since that is just 5 passes on a fresh engine and tranny, and even more so since it was the first race at the track this season. At the end of last season, the car consistantly ran low 4.30s and high 4.20s.

Re: 330 times for last night

Second time out for us this year. Same results, made it to the final four so we won our entry fee back. The track hooked much better tonight (with the exception of the left lane in the 2nd round eliminations) Anywyas, here is our times for this weekend (remeber, 330 ft. track)

1st run: HOT! HUMID! right lane, RT: .566, 60 ft: 1.66 (spinning) 330 ET: 4.40

2nd run: still hot, still humid, left lane: RT: .549, 60 ft: 1.49, 330 ET: 4.35

3rd run: sun was set but not dark, cooled off pretty good, right lane: RT: .505 (adjusted delay box, so that's why there is such a radical change), 60 ft: 1.48, 330 ET: 4.32

4th run: dark, first round eliminations: right lane Dial in: 4.30, RT: .511, 60 ft. 1.47, 330 ET: 4.30

5th run: left lane: Dial in 4.27, RT .512, 60 ft. 1.48, 330 ET: 4.32 (car went right handed when it left for some reason, so had to rainbow it) Still won though becuse other car broke out (dialed 4.25 ran 4.246)

Last run: right lane: Dial in 4.29, RT: .493 (red lighted, so we loose automatically), 60 ft. 1.46, 330 ET: 4.27 (car hooked really good)

So that makes that past run the fastest to date on the fresh overhauled engine/tranny, and within 2 hundreds of fastest ever run (4.25). It just keeps getting stronger!

Re: 330 times for last night

Thanks. I'm gonna try and get some pictures of it coming out of the burnout to post on here next weekend.

It doesn't do it now, but it used to bring the tires as high as that Red Camaro in your pic. We used to leave the line at 4000 rpms, but about 2 years ago, it came up so high, it started left handed towards the guard rail and had to get out of it and when it hit the ground, the front cross member hit, HARD. So after that we bought a 4-link rear suspension (used to run ladder bars) and coil-over shocks, and leave the line at 3600 rpms now. It brings the left front tire about 6 inches now and carries it for about 25-30 ft., right tire barely comes up but doen'st carry for about the length of the car.

Re: 330 times for last night

Times from tonight, made it to 8 cars, but didn't really do good all night. The times were up and down pretty bad, atlesat for our car, but it was everybody else to, so we are blaming the track for most of what happened. But, anyways, here they are:

1st run: HOT, like almost 90 degrees, first car to go down the track, rigiht lane: RT: .553, 60 ft: 1.55 (spinning), 330 ET: 4.44

2nd run: Just as Hot as first run, left lane: RT: .566, 60 ft: 1.52 (actually smoked the tires when it left), 330 ET: 4.40

3rd run: still hot, but a little cooler, right lane: RT: .491 (adjusted the delay box) 60 ft: 1.50 (didn't spin at initial launch, but the time is still off), 330 ET: 4.35

4th run: first round eliminations, dark, comfortable temp, right lane: dial in: 4.30, RT: .493 (automatic loss), 60 ft: 1.48, 330 ET: 4.31

5th run: bought back (track always has 1st round buy backs), cooler then before, plus the car had set for well over an hour and a half, someone oiled down teh track so took a while to clean up, right lane: dial in: 4.29, RT: .522, 60 ft: 1.49, 330 ET: 4.33 (won the race despite the big slow down the car had, other car had a .534 RT and run 3.88 on 3.82 dial)

Final run: in the 50s now, right lane: dial in 4.30, RT: .558, 60 ft. 1.47, 330 ET: 4.299 (broke out by 1 thousandths of a second!!, still would have lost the race though, other car (rail) had a .521 RT and went 3.668 on a 3.65 dial in)
