frankenstein tranny

i still have a broken transmission. the gear stick jerks out of first gear after engagement while slightly pressing the gas pedal. so i had it checked and it seems that some part of the gear's teeth are broken. so, if anyone can please answer this:

if i take the parts i need from a first gen tranny(turbo engine) or a non turbo 4G63 engine would it work? or would the gears of a GST second gen be different or much durable that it's senseless to even try?

i would really appreciate even just a few answers from anyone with an idea about this. tnx a lot.

Re: frankenstein tranny

FWD and AWD are not compatible at all. What car do you have, first of all.

Re: frankenstein tranny

Some 2g parts are better, some 1g parts are better. But nothing drastic.

For the AWDs, the internals from 91-94 work in the 2g cases, some parts require modification though. For example, I am using 1g heavy duty 3-4th gearset/hub/slider, which shep installed. I'm also using a 91-94 center diff which works with no mods at all. For FWD, I cant say from expereince any such similarities exist with cross generation tranny parts swapping... Your best bet would be to ask on www.dsmtuners.com or www.dsmtalk.com. Morelikely to find someone that has tried something similar to what you are trying to do with the number of poeple on those sites.
